Support for processing received
MMS messages is slightly more complex than received SMS messages, because
the content of MMS messages is more complex. To enable received MMS messages to be processed, on the “2-Way”
tab of the Configuration dialog, both “Process
Received SMS Messages” and “Process
Received MMS Messages” must be checked.
If you wish
to be able to receive inbound MMS messages with your gateway, and you
are using a mobile phone as your modem, you must utilize a mobile phone
that does not support WAP push or MMS.This is because the mobile phone automatically
processes these messages, without forwarding them via the modem interface.
When an MMS message
notification is received, the message is routed to the gateway. The gateway retrieves the URL that contains the MMS message content,
and then parses the binary content of the MMS message file. The MMS message headers are written to a file with a
“.hdr” file extension in the “MMS Directory”
specified in the configuration dialog. The MMS message headers are written in a text format compatible
with the “header file” format defined for the MMSCOMP utility. The content components of the MMS message file
are parsed into separate files and stored in a subdirectory beneath the
“MMS Directory”, where the subdirectory has the same name as the MMS message
header file without the file extension. The MMS message header file will contain one or more “X-NowMMS-Content-Location:”
headers to specify all of the content files that are associated with the
message.
